Lavender

I was at Trader Joe's earlier this week, and they had huge baskets full of dried lavender for sale near the checkout. Lavender smells so amazing--it's spicy, sweet, and so fresh at the same time. When I was in elementary school, the house we lived in had a row of lavender bushes out front, and I remember my mom and I making sachets of dried lavender for our dresser drawers and linen closets. It was thrilling to me that something so simple and easily derived could smell so good.

Of course I picked some up at Trader Joes, and felt that same thrill as I cut the lavender off the stems and caught the bursts of fragrance fill my kitchen. Added bonus--look at that color! So pretty!

The Stuff I Like

Lately I've become aware that I get very enthusiastic about promoting things I discover and that I like. The thing can range, anywhere from a good book to an interesting cocktail to a wonder shampoo.

I think part of this share-the-love mania comes from the fact that like Facebook or my Gchat status make it so easy. I'll also admit I have become something of a supreme consumer. In any case, I think it would be interesting to collect all of these things in one place to try and make sense of the things in life that capture my interest. And if you're reading this, well, that's nice too.
